Why have facebook and twitter grown so much, but it feels like LiveJournal is dying out? LJ had great ways to control access to your data, share things, and really nice ways to comment and interact with one another.
Was it just too high-touch? It’s certainly easier to speak in a sentence or two, but I feel like I only have a shallow impression of what’s going on in a whole lot of lives, instead of really connecting to a slightly smaller group. I guess I update more often, but the small text box has caught on for me, and I keep feeling like I have less to say.
It would be really cool to see people on facebook go back to the long format; I wonder what it would take to make it happen.
